Barbara Warner-Smith (PDM, UTLM, ATCL) studied under the tutelage of the recorder
pedagogue Irmgard Winkler-Haller. She completed her Performer's Diploma at the University
of Cape Town and her Teacher's Licentiate through UNISA. Thereafter she attained
her Trinity Associateship with distinction under the tutelage of Karin Maritz at
Stellenbosch University.

Barbara is a keen chamber musician. Her teaching career spans primary, secondary
and tertiary levels. She also adjudicates at eisteddfods. Currently, she is teaching
at the Beau Soleil music centre and lectures in recorder studies at UCT.
